The kitchen is one of the most frequently-used rooms in the house. Within this room, your kitchen countertop will be frequently used as well. After all, this surface is where many meals are prepared. When you’ve used your countertop enough, however, you may find that scratches have developed on the surface. Keeping your kitchen countertop scratch-free is beneficial both for its appearance, and for its usability. To get rid of scratches on your kitchen countertop, here’s what you’ll have to do.
Removing Scratches From Marble Countertops
Marble countertops are quite popular among homeowners. As such, many homeowners may be struggling with scratches on these types of surfaces. To restore your marble kitchen countertop, it’s recommended that you apply baking soda to the affected area. Afterwards, you should take a damp microfiber cloth and rub the scratched area. A compound of mild dish soap and warm water can also be added.
Removing Scratches From Quartz Countertops
Quartz can be a tough surface to scratch, but if you do see scratches, there are ways to get the scratches out. For lighter scratches, try to buff them out using polishing or buffing products that are designed for quartz surfaces. Then, take some polish and apply it to the scratch. Wipe off any remaining residue afterwards.
For heavier scratches on your quartz kitchen countertop, you should fill the scratch up with some resin or epoxy. You may need to wait roughly 24 hours after applying it to the scratch. Once this waiting period is over, you should scrape away whatever remaining residue still exists on your quartz kitchen countertop. The filling you used should also be level with the remainder of the kitchen countertop. When everything is finally level, and your kitchen countertop is properly restored, give it a thorough cleaning before you use it again.
